It’s hard to believe that it was four years ago when we stayed at Tucan/Quetzal. We loved the way they integrated the central jungle into the resort. i still remember walking through it daily to get to the beach area. The rooms were good although not as spacious as you’ll find in newer resorts but the food and beach were awesome. If you’re into snorkeling, the closest good snorkeling is several hundred yards south and perhaps 50 yards off shore. There’s a bunch of old mooring blocks on the ocean floor. On the ocean side, the sand is eroded and there’s a maybe 20 ft dropoff. Fish love this spot.
We went swimming in the area of the blocks when we were staying at the Allegro Occidental. We walked all the way down there and jumped in to cool off. There were lots of fish just swimming around our feet while we were out there.
