Planning a short 3 Р4 night first visit to M̩rida. Deciding between Hotel Casa San Angel and Hotel Casa Lucia, or possibly a home/condo if any are available for a short stay. Any advice/info on the drive, accommodations, or sights would be appreciated!

No help on the drive as we took the bus from Cancun.

We rented a house in the Santiago area in 2016 and are renting one about 2 1/2 blocks from Parque de Santa Ana this year. Both are an easy walk to the main plaza and we had no issues with walking the streets in the daytime or evening (well except for the customary potholes).

We took a tour to the Uxmal & Kabah ruins and really enjoyed them. They just seemed to have a different feel to them then Chichen Itza/Coba/Tulum. We loved the Lucas de Galvez Market on Calle 65 & Calle 56. There are different sections that sell seafood/meat/produce/goods plus many food stalls some of which had more interesting selections (brain sausage or udder for example). We also did a cooking class and a street food tour while we were there.

There is literally something happening somewhere in the central core every evening. Here’s a couple links with some listings:

We’re looking forward to heading back there again this year from Feb 27 – Mar 9 and then going to Playa for a week. This year we’re looking at taking day trips to Campeche and Izamal and doing a Cantina tour and another cooking class.

Thanks Pam, much appreciated! Not a lot of this type of feedback on this newer site unfortunately, enjoy your next visit!
